This journal club, led by Sarah Costa, M.S.Ed., BCBA, LABA, LBA, Clinical Director, will dive into effective and efficient staff training using behavioral skills training (BST). We will review Horner and Sturmey (2012) to break apart the pieces of BST that make it effective and discuss the importance of staff training that leads to integrity within programming. Please read this article prior to attending the journal club and come prepared to learn more about effective ways to supervise and train others who are working with your clients, as well as the benefits of doing a component analysis in practice.

Sarah has been part of Bierman’s team since 2022. Over the last 18 years, she has worked in various settings, including public schools, private schools, residential placements, home services, and center-based programs. Sarah has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for 10 years and enjoys working with individuals of all ages, but her passion and energy are well-suited for the young clients we serve at Bierman! She also enjoys supervising BCBA trainees entering the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Sarah is currently pursuing her doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis at Simmons University.
